Stuffed Animal Toys Faq’s

John asks…
What is the name of the stuffed animal toy that came out around 2003 or possibly 2004 that was a mother dog?
…. each dog had puppies inside. It was a surprise as to whether it would be 3 or 5 puppies and how many would be girls or boys. Does anyone out there remember these toys and what they were called? I’m interested in finding one for my niece for her birthday on ebay, but it’s quite difficult without knowing the actual name of the dog. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

“Puppy Surprise.”

Cost of having toy fixed at toy/stuffed animal/teddy bear hospital?
Has anyone ever got this done? Send their childhood stuffed animals to a stuffed animal/toy/teddy bear hospital? How expensive is it?
TS Staff Answers:
I think there is a Doll hospital in maine U.S.A. And you should get many hits if you just search for one near you.
About 10 years ago i had one repaired it was about 65.00 plus mailing costs.

Stuffed Toys Bacteria Faq’s

Sandy asks…
How do you feel about these chewables for a teething puppy?
I have a large breed puppy who’s mind, and mouth, is not easily satisfied! After about a week of using the same-old same-old chewable toys he will start to get bored, so I’m looking for some new ideas. How do you feel about rawhide, pig ears, and those big bones with dried gristle (I’m guessing) on them? Are they really that bad? I have read that if you supervise your puppy with a rawhide and take it away when it gets to be too small of a piece that they are fine, unless your puppy has a sensitive stomach. I know that pig ears contain a lot of fat, so I would also not give them too often. I’ve also read that bacteria infections have been caused by pig ears, but I am wondering that if you buy the packaged kind, not the ones that sit on the shelf exposed, that maybe they are safer? How about the large bones with the gristle? My mother used to give our GSD those large bones and she absolutely went ga-ga-crazy for them. She never had any stomach problems or anything from them.
How has your dog done with these? Or do you have any tips on chew toys?!
((Along with plenty of non-stuffed toys and a large durable rubber ducky I have tried freezing peanut butter inside a kong and freezing his rope after soaking it in water. He loves these things. I’m going to try freezing carrots next too. I give him dental hides from the vet office and he LOVES those, so I thought he would flip over rawhides and pig ears.))
BA points!! Please and thanks! My puppy is 12 weeks old and I want to provide him with as much teething items possible <3 ![]()
@Erica
I hate to be completely clueless, but by raw bones do you mean going to your butcher/deli area in Walmart and asking for a raw bone?
TS Staff Answers:
Raw hides are the devil. People can argue with me all they want, and that’s fine, but I will NOT have another one in my home. Not since the night I spent on the phone with my vet, while dislodging a piece of a rawhide (and it wasn’t exactly a SMALL piece) from the back of my 125 pound pit/lab cross’s throat. And that was WITH me sitting maybe 4 foot away from him. I turned my head for 2 seconds, and *bam* he got a piece lodged in the back of his throat. Since then, I’ve made a rule that raw hides will NOT be allowed in this house. Period.
As for the large bones you’re talking about, I haven’t had too many problems with those as of yet. I believe they’re called butcher bones or something along those lines, I could be wrong though. Raw bones are actually better, just make sure you supervise the dog with them at all times.
Also, ox tails are an AMAZING chew toy, especially for tough chewers. You can google them.
I don’t recommend freezing carrots, they tend to turn all shrively and weird. Or at least in my experience they have, I may have done it wrong, lol. Giving him raw carrots should be just as effective.
As far as boredom, don’t let him have access to ALL of his toys at once. Keep enough around that he likes, that you can switch some toys out every couple of weeks. This will keep him mentally stimulated, and will help prevent him from getting bored with his toys.

Nancy asks…
Why do parents allow their infants to become dependant on toys, blankets, pacifiers or their thumb?
I have 3 children of my own and I watch another 3 children as well. I have watched many of the parents of these children allow their babies/children to become dependant on toys, pacifiers, blankets, their thumbs and even movies to be watched at nap time. The characteristics that all these children now have in common are a lack of sense of security, delayed communication and delayed motor skills.
None of my children used pacifiers past the 2 month mark for the simple reason that we wanted them to either soothe themselves or be soothed by us. Also, I breastfed all 3 children for varying amounts of time. Charlie was breastfed only until the 7 week mark due to my falling and breaking my arm. Sam was breastfed until 7.5 months but he weaned himself off. I wanted to go to 1 year but I have learned to work with a child in a way that benefits him and to get past any emotional feelings I might have on the topic. He went straight into using a sippy cup and then on to a regular cup by 14 months. Alice breastfed until 4.5 months and weaned herself since she was cutting her first tooth. I tried to prolong it for health reasons but she insisted on stopping so I expressed milk for another 2 months and she drank from a bottle.
We NEVER allowed any of our children to become dependant on any one blanket or toy either. We also never allowed thumb sucking because that could possibly be the hardest habit to break since it is attached to their body. When we saw them sucking their thumb even as a baby, we would take their thumb out of their mouth and distract them with something else. Most people just don’t know how bad thumb sucking can be when it comes to germs (viruses, bacteria, etc), dental hygiene, and tooth development (producing straight teeth).
Our children are all very well rounded individuals with no insecurities. They are very social and friendly (even with adults). They attended their first sleepover this past fall while we were up north with our friends (due to distance) a family that they had never even met and our children had no problems whatsoever. They can even go into the dark basement to get our dogs food at night (because they want to be big kids and help feed the pets).
I guess what I am getting at is this. Why do parents teach/allow their children to become dependant individuals; to be dependant on false securities instead of self secure?
Also, do these children (who continue to suck on their thumb and take their blankie with them to school in their bag, etc) grow up to be adults who develop other dependencies such as; shopping, having stuff, drugs, alcohol, food, smoking, etc?
I am posting this because I am hoping to spur some thoughts from other parents and even grandparents on this topic and to relay their experiences (from kids who have not had dependencies, to dependencies until 1st grade, or longer lived dependencies) and how their children (whether still young or grown to adulthood) have developed in the different areas of communication skills, social skills, self security/or insecurity, motor skills and overall cognitive growth (ahead, behind, or on schedule academically).
From my observations of the past children I have watched; Children who are now 2.5 and 4.5, both thumb suckers who developed important skills very slowly with the elder child now struggling through school and the younger still thinking his thumb is just for sucking on so he refuses to use his right hand when playing or grabbing anything (which would need him to use his thumb) and resorts to only using one hand, and no interest in coloring or trying to write since he is right handed) yet the parents continue to allow these behaviors of sucking thumbs and sticking the corner of their blankets up their noses (even packing the blanket in his book bag each day for school). As well as my observations from two of the three (21-22 month olds) that I currently watch in which these dependencies are hindering them in many ways. The one child, now 21 months, who does NOT use a pacifier is far ahead of the other two which are older than him by one month (not much of an age difference at all). His motor skills, communication skills (trying to express what he wants, needs or feels using words – not by screaming, grunting, pointing, or just nodding). So, he is more in line with how my children (as well as other non-dependent children I see on a regular basis through friends and family) are as far as these skills are concerned.
I can’t help but wonder if these children really need these “security” items or if it’s due to their parent’s own dependent nature or selfish personalities. Are their parents more interested in getting sleep at night, stopping a temper tantrum, pacifying a child so they don’t have to make a bottle, etc? Or is it that the parents think that it’s cute or normal for their baby to “need” his binkie, blankie, or other “security” item?
One other thing that the parents of the dependent children th
TS Staff Answers:
I am mom to 4 who are now 29, 27, 24, and 11. Each one of my children had some form of comfort when they were younger. My oldest had a pacifier until she was a little over 2. She is now a successful public school teacher in an excellent school district currently teaching 4th grade with many parents requesting her. She is defintely not dependent on shopping, drugs, stuff, etc. Our son carried around his bottle until he was 3 (filled with water, but rarely drank from it) and needed it to sleep. He is a talented musician as well as artist. He is hard working and quite comfortable with who he is. He does smoke, but he didn’t start until he moved in with friends who smoke. Our 3rd born had a blanket as well as sucked her thumb! HORRORS – she must be a complete mess, but no, she’s a compassionte human being who does like her “stuff”, but she has perfectly straight teeth that didn’t require orthodontia. She spoke early, using sentences with ease at 14 months. All 3 of my older kids graduated high school with honors and went on to be successful college students. They had no delays in communication, motor skills, or cognitive growth. They are well-rounded socially and have good self-esteem. Our youngest was conceived quite unexpectedly when I was reliably taking birth control pills for 11 years. She was born when her siblings were 18, 15, and 12. She developed quite a connection with her pacificer despite the fact I nursed her until she self-weaned at 14 months. She didn’t give it up until she was 5. Hard to say where her adult life will lead, but she’s doing pretty well right now. She’s in 6th grade and her last report card was all A’s. She does sometimes prefer the company of adults over kids her own age, but that is probably due to her spending most of her time with adults and isn’t likely connected to extended pacifier use. She does have orthodontia, but it is not pacifier use related, but rather the result of a small mouth (got that from me) and a cross-bite (hereditary). I am not sure if you mean to do this, but your question comes across very much like you think your parenting skills are by far better than anyone who has “allowed” their child any type of comfort measure. In addition to my own kids, I am also grandma to a 21 month old grandson who still has a pacifier as well as a well-loved blanket. He is a darling baby, well along in his verbal skills, does well with his motor skills, and is quite the social butterfly. I have also provided child care in my home for 21 years. Most of my daycare children have developed some form of comfort measure that may or may not last for an extended period of time. I have worked with children with delayed skills and security issues, but whether they have a “lovey” or not has not been a defining common denominator. What makes a bigger difference in developmental issues has actually been the economic level of the parents. My most challenging children have come from families where a single mom is head of the household and dad is mostly out of the picture. Now, these children have some hurdles to overcome. There are infants and toddlers who never develop a specific attachment to anything while others have long-term attachments. I, personally, don’t think it is a reliable measure as to what type of children, teens and adults they will become. My personal experience of over 35 years working with kids does not support your theory.

Help! Dont Know What To Do?
How do you wash your babies toys that are stuffed and either say things or play music?? I am afraid they will start to smell, and hold on to bacteria because he chews on it alot.
you cant just wipe a stuffed toy, the saliva goes all threw the toy
TS Staff Answers:
Try to find a velcro where they might be removeable…
Otherwise i’ve always used a surface antibacterial cleaner…a damp (viva) papertowel with a little product on it wipe it up, and then rinse the papertowel and wipe down real good the toy so there is no soap left over…
Otherwise, throw it in the wash….lol! And it won’t talk or sing anymore….
But for the most part….just clean them real good! My kids never got sick from bacteria…so yours shouldn’t…
But be careful if it falls on the floor in a grocery store or when you are out and about…there are WAY too many germs there….always attach your toys to a ring and attach it to the cart or the sling that you carry your baby in!!!

Good Stuff Plush Toys Faq’s

Susan asks…
Best idea for an unusual stuffed animal?
I’m considering having a plush toy custom-made. What kind of animal should it be? I don’t want a stuffed animal that I could have simply bought; I’d like it to be something unique that is rarely or never seen as a plush toy. (It doesn’t *have* to be an animal either; I’ve seen perfectly good stuffed “animals” that were plants, inanimate objects, or something else entirely.)
So, give me your best suggestions. I’ll pick a best answer based on the best suggestion made (favoring suggestions that I haven’t thought of myself, and that aren’t currently made as stuffed animals).
Thanks!
Thanks for the answers.
Plush skunks and penguins are not particularly unusual.
I think I’d prefer something a little more “natural” than a neon green animal or a chimerical hybrid. (Also, isn’t a cross between a horse and a donkey a mule?)
Me as a stuffed animal is certainly creative, but a little creepy and narcissistic if actually done.
Potato and tuba are certainly good ideas. But I’m not sure either could be infused with the personality that a good stuffed animal needs.
So that leaves, as best answer …

New Dog Owner Question (Samoyed) ??
Hello. So i am new to dog ownership and have always had cats. I have a Samoyed dog that is 2 1/2 years old.
At this point i could not imagine life without this furball. But i have a few questions…
He loves stuffed animals… i buy cheap baby plush toys at the goodwill cuz he slobers all over them. lol. I remove all plastic beeding in them if their in the body hands or feet and he adores them. Is this ok as long as its just a plush toy without any dangerous insides???
Also he was fed kibbles n bits b4 i got him (horrible). So i gradually switched him to Innova (excellent). But he got diarrhea (as expected) so i fed him new food with white rice which helped make his poop solid. He loved it. My question is it ok to feed him white rice with his food? He loves it and it seems cheap on top of the expensive stuff i do feed him. Or is it bad on a consistent basis and only good for when he has the poos?
Last question… i was told scrambled eggs and tuna were good for him as well. Especially for his breed. I likes eggs but i havent tried tuna yet….
Any insight wuld b much appriciated! Thanks!
TS Staff Answers:
Welcome to the world of Samoyeds! They are wonderful dogs, I’ve had them for over 20 years.
Many do fine with stuffed toys. Just monitor to see if he has tendencies towards eating the stuffing or chewing off pieces and swallowing them. That could cause an intestinal blockage.
Rice won’t hurt him, but it is really empty calories. Sometimes the reason dogs get diarrhea on a richer food like that is because they are eating too much. Go to the manufacturer’s websites and compare the number of calories in Kibbles n Bits vs the Innova. If he’s getting more calories than he used to, cut back on the portions. If that does not do the trick and he does not adjust, I would advise looking for a different food.
Many dogs that have a tendency towards loose stools get much firmer when switched to EVO dog food (also made by Innova.) That was the case with my dog. (Of course there are some that get worse…) EVO is very calorie dense, even more than the regular Innova. You would really need to compare the calories and cut back portions if you try the EVO. The good part is that even though EVO is expensive, if you figure out the cost per serving, it can be cheaper than other premium foods.
These days there are a lot of really good foods available. You should be able to find one that works for him. Another thing you can try is to add canned pumpkin to his food. It is high in fiber and dogs really like it. Just don’t get the pie filling, make sure you get plain pumpkin. Unfortunately there is a pumpkin shortage this year, some stores won’t have it on the shelves until the coming harvest. Start with one or two tablespoons per meal.
Eggs are good for him, so is Tuna. Sardines are even better than Tuna though. Full of Omega 3s and since Sardines are low in the food chain you don’t have the problem with mercury contamination that can come with Tuna. Look for sardines canned in water.
There is a good and fairly active email list for Samoyed owners that you might like. Www.samfans.org Samoyed owners tend to be a friendly and helpful bunch.
Good luck and I hope your dog gets his digestive system on track.

All I see missing is a crate, unless that’s what you got her for an indoor bed.
So nice to see that you are planning ahead and have already talked to your vet!! Make an appointment for as soon as you get her (on the trip home before you get home would be ideal IMHO) to let your vet meet her and check her over. A first shot, worming and maybe a topical flea treatment may be in order, depending on where you are, and your vet can help you with all of that. Then once you’re home she can have some uninterrupted time to settle in before she has to go visiting.
What’s “the dry stuff” the vet recommended? If it is Science Diet or Iams, maybe do some research before you feed it to her. As a matter of fact, no matter what it is, research is good.
Congrats! She is *so* cute!!

Storage Ideas??
I am needing some very cheap ideas on storing some things around my house. There are many that I just can’t find any ideas for….some ideas and/or some examples of what you use in your own homes will be very helpful. I will list the areas I am having some trouble in :
Toy box ideas for my two children, boy (3) & girl (1)
(Match box cars, stuffed animals, Small hand toys, etc)
Papers for filing & new incoming mail
Place for keys and loose items near door
Tupperware in the Kitchen (large and small)
Items such as light bulbs and household hardware
I guess this is about it. I just have a hard time finding a place for these sort of things. Thanks = )
TS Staff Answers:
Want cheap? No problem!!!
Toy box ideas for my two children, boy (3) & girl (1)
(Match box cars, stuffed animals, Small hand toys, etc) ~ You can purchase file boxes from any Office Depot or even Walmart. These are the boxes where files are kept and stored. Cover them with paper bags and let your kids color, paint or sticker them!
They come with a top so you can shut them up! The kids will love it!
Papers for filing & new incoming mail ~ You can use a plastic or cardboard file box or expandable organizer. These are broken down by months and/or categories. Again, Walmart or some office supply company.
Place for keys and loose items near door ~ Want cheap???? Use containers which once had food in them! Don’t want to go that far? Use a bowl from your kitchen cabinet.
Tupperware in the Kitchen (large and small) ~ I sell Tupperware! I am a Star Manager. Want cheap??? Have a catalog show. Sell and earn up to 20% of as hostess credits. Use the $ to purchase the items you want to organize your kitchen. Think Modular Mates for your cabinets and Fridgesmart and Fresh N Cool for your fridge!
Items such as light bulbs and household hardware ~ If you want cheap, you can get a plastic container or cardboard box and add an insert which allows for sections to be created. These come with tops and some with handles for easy access!
I guess this is about it. I just have a hard time finding a place for these sort of things. Thanks = ) ~ You can actually buy most of these items from Walmart or an Office Supply store.
If you would like items to last a lifetime which also allow for versatility, I do recommend Tupperware. We offer a lifetime warranty as well.
It’s all up to you! Me? I’d go with the file box for the kids’ stuff and Tupperware for the rest!
Let us know what you decide!! I’m sure no matter what you do, you will be satisfied!

TS Staff Answers:
If there are electronic connections the best way of cleaning and disinfection is to use a foam cleaner that is used to clean upholstery. This foamy cleaner can be used to spot clean the stains out. You might then want to let it dry NOT IN A DRYER. Then take a fabric softener sheet after the toys are clean and wipe wherever a nice clean smell would be appropriate.

“Aww he loves Mickey more than Pooh!” – rude comment from a friend has me upset with her- what to do?
Last night I was watching a friend’s son while she worked the midnight shift.
This morning she came over to pick her son up.
My husband and I watch her son so often, he has a toddler bed in our son’s nursery.
My son is 5 months old. My husband and I did his entire nursery in Winnie-the-Pooh. We both loved Pooh growing up, m nursery was Pooh when I was an infant, Pooh is a bright interesting color- it only seemed natural for us to do his room in Pooh. And ironically, his favorite toy is a stuffed Pooh, its the only one he’ll babble with, and the only one he cries if you try to take away from him.
Her son is 3 years old and obcessed with Mickey Mouse.
I do not personally like Mickey Mouse, not because of Mickey himself, but because my ex (who was both sexually and phyiscally abusive) had a vintage Mickey collection. So now whenever I see Mickey, I think of him and its almost like reliving that trauma again.
My friend knows why I hate Mickey and she knows why I love Pooh
yet she went out of her way to make sure everything that her son needed to spend the night was Mickey Mouse: the sheets for the toddler bed, the pillow, the stuffed animal he slept with, the shirt he changed into in the morning.
Which is all fine, he loves Mickey, its only natural to surround him with what he likes.
But then she did something that really pushed my buttons:
when she came to pick her son up, she took her son’s stuffed Mickey Mouse and pushed it into my son’s face, my son grabbed Mickey’s leg and pulled the toy down from his face
then she says “aww, he loves Mickey more than Pooh!”
This action was apart of a pattern of disrespectful behavior
(see question I posted yesterday: )

I don’t want to make a big issue out of this, however I can shake my upset feeling.
How can I get past her continuous rude behavior?
(Especially when I don’t think she realizes what she is doing.)
TS Staff Answers:
I think the best thing to do is talk to her about it. But when you are dont make it seem like you are yelling at her, or anything. Just say it brings back memories you dont want to remember. I was also a victim of sexual abusive, so i know its hard to forget. Than when you see something that reminds you of it, its the worst. I think she will understand if you talk to her and maybe he can still have mickey stuff but maybe not so much around you and in your own house. I hope i helped and good luck.

Charles asks…
When ordering adult toys online, is there anyway they’ll find out your age?
So I want to buy some toys & everything from the Spencer’s website, but I’m not 18. Is there anyway they’d find out that i’m not 18 after i bought the stuff? I know they ask for card information to order (obviously) but, after ordering or during the process, would there be anyway they’d find out I’m not 18? && to the people who bought toys & stuff off the spencer’s website, do they even ask for age?
TS Staff Answers:
If you are able to pay with a CC, they don’t care: this is actually great and I’ve had some great stuff from the: no age check other than the CC.
Happy play!

What can i expect at an Toys r us Group Interview?
I am having a Group Interview this Tuesday and i am really new into this i was at an office environment before. Do i have to sell stuff?
TS Staff Answers:
By the looks of the other answers it varies.
For my group interview there was about 12 of us. We went around the room standing up and presenting ourselves to everybody telling a few things about ourselves. Than we went over some of the basics on the store. After that we were given about 10 minutes to go out and find a toy. With the toy we picked out we had to sell the item to 2 of the managers at the store. We than proceeded to return the items. After that we partnered up with another person and that person had to sell us to the managers as why we would be a good pick. Last we walked around the store and they called us in 1 by 1 to ask us a few questions and boom we were done. That is boom is very misleading because it took about 3+ hours to do this lol. All I know is that I did good and was hired.

Good Stuff Plush Toys Faq’s

Sandy asks…
Good ideas for Christmas gifts or no?
Ok. So I don’t really know what I want to get everyone for Christmas, yet.
Well, I got my one friend a plush toy of her favorite animal, ’cause she got me a plush of mine earlier this year. Then my mom I bought her a bracelet. My dad I’m just going to make a homemade card, I might buy him some Reese’s too. My brother, I have no idea -.- I might get him a shirt. Haha. I’m not certain, we don’t talk a lot. And this is where I need the most help… Christmas present for my closet guy friend. His birthday is Christmas at all, meaning this got me a little more stumped.
He likes pandas, he’s interesting in playing guitar, he wants to be a photographer/actor when he grows up, he enjoys singing, he can play the violin, almost positive his favorite colors red, he enjoys getting drawlings from his friends.. & he’s going to be sixteen.
This is what I’m thinking: Panda drawling, I might make the spots red to symbolize his favorite color on his favorite animal. A panda stuffed animal. And maybe a picture collage of our friendship. Like a couple pictures of us saying, “best friends” or something.
What are your opinions & does that sound good? If you were him would you like that? Thanks.
TS Staff Answers:
I think its a great idea, you have a wonderful imagination.

Linda asks…
Should I get a stuffed animal for my dog who won’t stop humping things?
Do you think it’s a good idea to just get him a few big plush toys for it? He has nothing to hump and I get pretty mad when he grabs the pillows I sleep on.
Thanks ;D
TS Staff Answers:
Yes a few toys can be great but training is the most important thing. Also, have him neutered.

William asks…
Going gently into her night, will you comment please?
They moaned and chanted, takin shape
pulled from fearful dreams
swayin back and to side
they held high, tactics
most hidden from.
Toys lay on the floor,
stuffed plush guardians
while a music box on the dresser
vowed silence
She found the power to stand
against forces she didn’t comprehend
said “Good night”, turned on a light
blinding her demons.
With some inspiration from Dylan Thomas and others this morning.
