Stuffed Animal Toy Chain Faq’s

Help with Garage Sale?

I was wondering how should I price some things in my Garage Sale to get people to buy them. I have…

tube computer monitors
an old AC that goes in your window
computer keyboards
old golf clubs
small paper mache jewelry boxes
small.. figurines? is that what you call them?
old stuffed animals
old McDonald’s toys
a lot of handmade key chains
a lot of Nancy Drew computer games (some with original case, some with only disc sleeve)
PS2 games (madden 06, nfl street 1 & 2, star ocean)
roller blades and knee pads and hand pads
gamecube with carrying case
a mouse
a mouse pad
boom box
the tables i’m putting all this stuff on

Is there any way I should organize this stuff? I mean, is it bad if I just put all the jewelry boxes on a huge basket on the floor?

I just had an unsuccessful garage sale so I need help. (: Thanks.
Thank you De! I don’t know how to choose it as best answer now…

i also have clothing irons, ethernet routers, and books.

As for the pricing…
Tube computer monitors: Good condition, $35. Poor condition (not working), $10.
Air conditioner: Good condition, as much as $150. Poor condition: working: $50, not working: $15.
Computer keyboards: $20, cheaper if very dirty. Not working, $5.
Old golf clubs: Set could be $50 (use your judgment based on conditions), individual could be $10. Price set/individual based on what will make more money. Push the sale of the set if will make more, but give in easily if someone wants one or two.
Paper mache jewelry boxes: $1 each, unless they are very well crafted.
Figurines (yeah, a LOT of garage salers are looking for these): Base prices off of condition and quality of the figurine. If they are crappy, 50 cents each. The nicer ones can be anywhere from $1 to $5. Large figurines may run about $20.
Old stuffed animals: 50 cents for small stuffed animals, $3 for large teddy bears etc.
Old McDonald’s toys: 50 cents each except for sealed vintage (earlier than 1990) toys, $1 to $2 each.
Handmade key chains: 25 cents each.
Nancy Drew computer games (some with original case, some with only disc sleeve): Original case: $5, disc sleeve: $2.
PS2 games (madden 06, nfl street 1 & 2, star ocean): Popular games in original case (such as the ones you listed): $7. Less cool games can be about $3.
Roller blades and knee pads and hand pads: Sell together if possible because you will have trouble selling pads separately. Together $15. Roller blades alone $10. Pads alone $5.
Gamecube with carrying case: Together, $25. Gamecube: $15, case $10.
Mouse with mousepad: $5. Mouse by itself $3, mousepad $1.
Boom box: $20 if it plays CDs, $10 if cassettes only. Higher/lower depending on condition.
Tables: Crappy fold up ones? $20 each.

With all of those, those are just general prices. You should adjust the prices based on the condition of the product.

An attractive organization of the items will make for a bigger profit. It might take a little bit more time, but it’s worth it. Organize the items like you would see them in a store. That being said, putting cheap items together in a basket is acceptable at a garage sale. Be very nice to everyone that comes (remember some people stop by just for fun, but they can become customers when they like you). Don’t be pushy, but be very polite. Good luck!

Home made toys for rats and mice?

I work as an animal technician and where i work they have got in some more rodents (there is now too many rats lol) and they dont realy have any toys, they have shelves and tubes but i know how smart rats are so i want to give them all some toys but i dont want to pay a fortune on them as i wont get the money back, so i thought why not make them some toys. Ive got some chain to hang stuff on but cant think of what to put on it. Any ideas?

Can you give them Eucalyptus sticks? had a tree fall in my garden but i dont know if is poisnus to rats, mice and other rodents.

TS Staff Answers:

I wouldn’t do the eucalyptus, it is probably poisonous.

The best i think is the cardboard box. They love to shred them xD

Sandra asks…

Should I report my uncle’s dog neglect?

Long story short: my uncle is a real jerk whose bad luck in life is everyone’s fault I guess. He’s 50 something and lives with my grandma. She’s a real timid and sweet woman, but the reason I say this is because he also has several pitbulls on her property. To my knowledge, at least one of them are quite vicious (male pitbull, about 4 or 5 yrs old attacked my dog last year. Instead of reporting the animal, my uncle agreed to take him away. But he just brought the dog back three months ago.) But the 4 others are within the range of 1-3 years old. And they are actually nice pups.

I know the debate going around about pitbulls. I sometimes agree that most of them are vicious and will rip anything to shreds just because. But these puppies I feel sorry for because he has them locked down in cages and chained on short chains in the back.

All their lives, that’s all they ever known. Very small tight cage space with little room to breath, exercise or other. He doesn’t walk them to my knowledge and all of them are really slender. A couple way below their natural weight. My dog is 11 years old this year and comparing my dog to them, is like day and night. These dogs look worn out, eaten up by insects or fleas and just miserable. At 3 or 4 years old.

Every day I’m really torn between reporting this as animal neglect. What’s keeping me back, is that my uncle has had a lot of bad luck and I don’t want to take his pets away since he really seems to love them. (Or seems to love them. He probably just keeps them around because he needs to feel in control of something.) And this is my grandma’s property and even though she’s an enabler and a doormat, I just don’t want her to be at fault.

But my uncle is cruel and these animals really deserve a chance. They bark all day and night and go crazy when they see other dogs from the road, and I fear that they are too uncontrollable now in their social skills. I’ve offered to at least walk them but he’s not hearing it. Lol he even got upset when I gave them a toy (it was a stuffed football and they had cotton everywhere in the cage).

So does anyone have any suggestions on who I should call or what steps to take? Or what should I even do? I live in South Florida and to even get someone to answer the Animal Control phone line (or reply to email) is like a god damn hassle. You would think if these people cared they could at least be more available.
I’d like to thank everyone who replied. I wish I could vote you all best answer but I can’t. lol I finally got off my ass today, took pictures and send them into a shelter in my city (who I found from the ASPCA website). I know stuff is about to blow up soon, but yeah. I’m pretty sick of being an enabler myself. So hopefully by the end of this week the dogs can be taken away and a few of them need their asses put to sleep.

TS Staff Answers:

Yes, Please report — although he is a part of your family, this is not good caring. Your uncle might have a hard time in life right now, but he is obviously not taking care of the dogs well. If he gets sad which is understandable, it’s his fault he took care of the dogs like that.
First Option – This is probably the best choice, but to call the animal shelter. Like you said, it’s a hassle, but keep trying. & if they pick up, if you want them to let you be anoymeous, tell them so, and they will do so

you don’t have the right to take the dogs. It’s part of the law. If you take the dogs and take it some where else, thats considered stealing )although your helping) The animal control or shelter workers need to go over there.
