Stuffed Toys Faq’s

Sandra asks…
stuffed toys?
How do I clean my 10 month old son’s stuffed toys without ruining them or useng something that will make him sick?
TS Staff Answers:
Some stuffed toys are not washable and if that’s the case, put the toys inside a pillow case, add some baking soda (just a teaspoon per toy), put it in the dryer for 15 minutes, and fluff it out and shld be clean!

Betty asks…
What is the best way to clean plush/stuffed dog toys?
I’ve noticed some of my puppies stuffed toys are getting kind of smelly. Most of the tags say to “surface wash” the toy. Anybody have any good suggestions on cleaning them?
TS Staff Answers:
Wash them in the washing machine in hot water with a gentle detergent on gentle cycle. I am a shelter manager and that is what we do every day with our stuffy toys. Dry them on warm in the dryer.

Mark asks…
How to donate homemade stuffed toys to hospitals and homeless shelters?
In Honor of my cousin. How can I Donate the handmade, brand new, stuffed toys I make to children’s hospitals or to homeless shelters? Are there any good organizations to go through? will they accept walk in donations if I just show up with some? what is the best way to do this? Thank you.
TS Staff Answers:
Call the Volunteer department of a hospital and I am sure the volunteer co-ordinator would love to receive your donations. Make an appointment and take your toys when they ask you to.
Call a homeless shelter and ask them if they need any stuffed toys for their incoming or outgoing residents. I am sure they will lead you in the right direction.
Best of luck.
